Well, Well, the 5th of November is certainly known for fireworks and what a bang the boys went out with this season.!!!
This was the last match of the season for the boys and they were up against what I believed to be a good St Cadog`s team. A team we had only narrowly beaten earlier in the season 3-2.But what a great display every one of the boys put on for the enthusiaistic crowd of parents and supporters there to watch on a very cold morning.
Right from the start the boys pushed forward and Josh, who plays like the ball is tied to his feet, broke through the defence and fired home a quick goal .Then Marcus beat a couple of defenders before lashing the ball home.
St Cadog`s were not that bad really but there was no way that they were going to get past James and Declan in defence and Liam in goals was a spectator with the rest of the crowd.
Steven and Kieran then scored a couple of goals but the next one was very special. Ronan played an absolutely brilliant pass through the defence for Kieran to run onto and lash an unstoppable shot passed the keeper. In fact the St Cadocs keeper also had some very good saves or the goals would have just kept on going in. Steven, as he always does, then ran through beating the defence for pace and calmly placed the ball into the back of the net.Stuart ,on the right wing, was at this time firing in some wonderful corners and he deservedly got a goal when one of the corners broke off a defender and ended up in the back of the net.
There was not a lot to say at half time but the St Cadoc`s manager certainly did!!Giving his team a roasting for being completely outplayed ,outfought and passed off the park !!
With Micheal, Mark, and Ryan on the team did not let up and continued to press forward but to St Cadog`s credit they came into the game more and Liam was eventually involved pulling off two great saves, one of these being a one on one with the forward.Even Liam was desperate to play his part in the display!!
The second half produced more goals with Declan charging through on two occassions and hammering the ball home both times, Marcus also scored with a glorious long range shot and Ronan scored with a header when the ball bounceed up off the keeper.
A great display to round off the season and the boys were delighted to be presented with their medals by Violet at the end.
Hopefully the boys will continue to work hard in training over the winter, and with the addition of another two good players,David and Cameron, who also played this season, then things are looking up for the times ahead.
